When New Information Changes the Outcome

A consumer contacted our office after being found 100% at fault for a collision that they strongly believed they did not cause. The insurer’s decision was based on the understanding that the consumer was making a left turn at an intersection.

After discussing the situation, we suggested that the consumer obtain the police report. In some cases, information recorded at the scene can help clarify facts that may not have been fully considered during the initial review.

Once the report was obtained, it confirmed that the other driver had admitted to turning right on a red light. After this information was brought to the insurer’s attention, the claim was reviewed again and the fault determination was reversed.

Consumer takeaway: If you believe important facts have been overlooked, ask questions and gather any available documentation. Sometimes a single piece of evidence can make all the difference in ensuring a fair outcome.
