What a surprise

After his vehicle was damaged in a motor vehicle accident and sent for repairs, the insured was provided with a rental vehicle under the loss-of-use coverage he had purchased.

As the repairs took longer than anticipated, and knowing that his rental coverage was subject to a limit on the number of rental days, the insured contacted the insurance adjuster to inquire whether the insurer would continue covering the cost of the rental vehicle. He was assured not to worry and was led to believe that the rental remained fully covered.

When he returned the rental vehicle, however, he was informed that he owed approximately $1,000 in rental charges.

Following our intervention, the insurance company acknowledged that an error had been made on its part and agreed to pay the outstanding invoice in full.
