Is your premium justified

Consumers sometimes accept premium increases without realizing there may be an error behind them. One consumer contacted our office after noticing a significant increase in their insurance premium following a claim involving a collision with a moose. The consumer believed the increase was unfair, but was unsure whether anything could be done. After reviewing the circumstances, we found that the loss had been recorded as an at-fault accident, even though wildlife collisions are generally treated as comprehensive claims and are not typically rated as at-fault losses. We contacted the insurer, who quickly investigated and recognized that the claim should have been recorded as 0% at fault. The insurer corrected the error and issued a refund for the additional premium the consumer had paid since renewal. This case highlights the importance of reviewing your insurance records and asking questions when something doesn't seem right.
